Hi. I’m Lynn, the main author here at POL. I’m a 69 years young woman and I’ve been there and done that. In my younger days, I was active in the anti war movement of the sixties. As I grew older, I morphed into a tax accountant and have been for some 30 plus years. From that experience, I know that many of us have bought into the koolaid being distributed in the media and by politicians over the years, that government is the problem. Admittedly, government is inherently imperfect, after all, it’s run by humans. But it isn’t the problem. When Eisenhower warned us of the military/industrial complex, he was talking about corporations and their ability to affect our electoral process. Romney is right. The head honchos at big corporations are people too. Greedy people who usurp that which benefits us all for that which pads their bank account. Greed is the problem. Always has been. Even Eisenhower, a Republican, knew that. Country first, profit second.
Hi. I’m Mike, Lynn’s son. I am the editor and webmaster of POL. I share the feeling of government not being the problem. Unlike some, I do not suffer from selective memory disorder. For all the belly aching about the debt and deficit, it’s notable to point out, historically, that it’s Republican presidents who always run up more debt and who always run up the deficit, more so than their Democratic counterparts. That’s just one of the reasons we started this blog. So, we welcome you to our blog. Read, laugh, cry, comment, we’d love to hear from you!
